Aylmer, Quebec is just across the bridge from Ottawa. This cozy and historic region is just 15 minutes northwest of downtown Ottawa. It’s a very bilingual part of Quebec, with lots of English-speaking people from Ontario living there. In recent years, it has become a part of the Gatineau region, which encompasses the entire region slightly north of Ottawa.
Aylmer has a very recreational community. There’s the Aylmer Marina, several golf courses and some great shopping areas, as well as community centers and swimming facilities.
Most residents of Aylmer commute to Ottawa for work.
Construction in Aylmer has raised some questions among longtime residents. Much of the area’s beautiful nature was lost to real estate development.
