Carp

Benefits of Carp Living

Country living has its perks, and Carp is no exception to this rule. The area provides the best of both worlds; a small town within driving distance of Kanata. Homes in this area are cheaper on average, housing is not as densely packed, and there are lots of trees and greenery. Between the months of May and October, there is a large farmer’s market, and the area is home to the very popular Carp Fair which draws crowds annually. Carp is also home to the Diefenbunker, Ottawa’s Cold War museum.

Drawbacks of Carp Living

Public transit in this area has yet to reach its full potential, and personal vehicles are the main mode of transportation. The nearby landfill for the City of Ottawa is likely the biggest drawback for the area, with strong odours during the summer months, depending on the direction the wind blows. The landfill has also caused some water pollution.
