Kanata

The Kanata area is a fairly new addition to the City of Ottawa. While the area itself has been there since the city was created, suburban development has reached a peak in this area, providing newer homes, clean, well-kept neighborhoods, and many new additions to the retail and food industry. Gone is the need to drive into the city for shopping and supplies, as the area is home to a number of popular businesses.

Benefits of Kanata Living

The dense suburban area has encouraged the growth of a number of community events and programs, and new educational facilities have recently been constructed, providing the students with modern classrooms and learning tools. The high volume of tech jobs, the reliable transit system, and the numerous parks and sports facilities in the area have made Kanata a very desirable place for young families. For those with a keen interest in sports, the close proximity of Scotia Bank Place, home of our very own Ottawa Senators, is simply one more reason to make Kanata your home.

Drawbacks of Kanata Living

While Kanata has a lot to offer, the area is not without its drawbacks. Traffic during peak hours can be a nightmare, as well as the traffic that forms both before and after special events at Scotiabank Place. The boom in recent residential development has left numerous parks suitable for children, but there is a shortage of natural forests and hiking trails. Individuality is also an issue that Kanata residents may struggle with, as there are a high number of ‘cookie cutter’ neighborhoods where the houses vary in colour but lack personality.
